Patch 1.93

February 7th, 2006 by h3rb

——————————————————————————–
– World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.9.3 (2006-02-07)
——————————————————————————–

Love is in the Air!
Are you looking for love? All of Azeroth soon will be! As winter
draws to a close the races are starting to seek that special someone.
Be on the lookout for amorous individuals! Put on that special
perfume or cologne, express your love, and receive gifts in return!
Prepare yourself… love will soon be in the air!

Mac
– Added native support for Intel-powered Macs such as the iMac (Core
Duo) and MacBook Pro. World of Warcraft is now a Universal
Application. Be advised that the minimum supported MacOS X version
has been changed to 10.3.9; World of Warcraft version 1.9.3 and later
will not launch on older revisions of MacOS X.

Battlegrounds
– The default graveyards in Alterac Valley for each side were moved
further up the tunnels away from the battlegroud exit. This should
prevent accidentally leaving the battleground.

Paladin
– Eye for an Eye – This talent will now still do damage when the
paladin is stunned. In addition, if the critical hit kills the
paladin, damage will still be dealt to the spellcaster.
– Greater Blessing of Sanctuary – Paladins with Righteous Fury will now
generate extra threat correctly when this Blessing procs.

Rogue
– Deadly Poison V – The charges were inadvertently not increased with
the new rank of the ability. Increased from 105 to 120 charges.
– Slice and Dice – This ability should no longer miss.

Warrior
– Shield Block – This aura will now correctly be removed when the
charges are all consumed. However, it is still possible when fighting
multiple opponents to get extra blocks due to technical restrictions.

Items
– Arcanist Gloves were not receiving the intended spell damage bonus;
this has been corrected.
– The Stamina and Intellect on Kezan’s Unstoppable Taint were
inadvertently flipped; this has been corrected.
– The Enigma’s Answer and Stormcaller’s Wrath effects now have tooltips.
– The mana regeneration effect from food no longer causes threat.
– Quicksand Waders are now Bind on Pickup.
– The Slime-coated Leggings now have their proper nature resistance.
– Prophetic Aura, Mageblood Potion, Wizard Oils, and the Mana
Regeneration bracer enchant no longer generate threat for the wearer,
and should also provide the increased mana regeneration on normal
ticks instead of every 5 seconds.
– The Ancient Hakkari Manslayer has the proper icon again.

Professions
– The Engineering schematic for the Tranquil Mechanical Yeti now
requires a Cured Rugged Hide rather than Ice Thistle E’ko so that
both Horde and Alliance Engineers can make the recipe.
– Stormshroud Gloves are now Bind on Equip.

Quests & Reputation
– Grammar fixed for gossip associated with the quest “Trial of the Sea
Lion” in Moonglade.
– Fixed a bug with the quest “Glyphed Oaken Branch” that was having the
quest become available sooner than it should have.
– The reputation modifier of Squire Leoren Mal’derath has been reduced.
– Zandalar Tribe reputation rewards for killing mobs in Zul’Gurub have
been increased.
– Winterfall Spirit Beads and Deadwood Headdress Feathers now stack in
quantities of 250.

Raid & Dungeons
– Various bugs have been rectified in the Ahn’Qiraj dungeons.
Molten Core
* It should now be very difficult to remain out of combat while
fighting the bosses in Molten Core.
Zul’Gurub
* A small number of spawns have been removed from Zul’Gurub to allow
for a slightly faster clearing time.
* Increased cooldown on Poison Bolt Volley of High Priestess Mar’li.
* Slightly reduced the melee damage of High Priestess Mar’li.
* The vengance effect gained by the death of the raptor Ohgan during
the Bloodlord Mandokir fight has been increased in power.
* Reduced the overall damage of High Priest Thekal.
* Slowed the rate at which the panthers spawn during the High
Priestess Arlokk fight.
* Hakkar:
Melee damage reduced.
Cause Insanity should now correctly target Hakkar’s current target,
rather than closest.
Cause Insanity will no longer remove all threat gained.
Reduced the damage dealt by Poisonous Blood Siphon.
Increased cooldown on Blood Siphon.
Gained an Enrage ability after 10 minutes in combat.
No longer has the Slow ability.
Corrupted Blood now deals direct damage with a following damage
over time effect and no longer spreads to others in the raid.
Fixed a bug that was causing Corrupted Blood to target the current
target rather than the intended random target.
* Increased duration of Poisonous Cloud emitted by Sons of Hakkar.
* Shades of Jin’do are now considered Undead.
– Slightly increased the movement of Lethon’s Spirit Shades.
– Reduced the duration of Lethon’s Draw Spirit from 7 seconds to 5
seconds.
– Fixed a bug that would cause Lethon’s Draw Spirit to spawn two
spirits per person instead of one.
– King Gordok can no longer be seperated from Cho’Rush the Observer in
Dire Maul.

World Environment
– Royal Dreadguards, Undercity Guardians, and Ironforge Guards will now
detect enemy players at the same distance as the other cities’ guards.
– Fixed a bug that would cause you to dismount in certain areas within
the Undercity.

Being a guild member of STNY

February 7th, 2006 by Simpkin

As of late I have noticed a couple guild members posting applications on other guilds websites. First of all I would like to say before you do something rash take some time to think about your actions. Chill out and take a break go have a beer blow off some steam, whatever it takes to make a calm rash decision. Then if you still feel that you want to go elsewhere simply type /gquit. I personally will /gkick the next person I see app another guild ecspecially if they decide to do it and post derogitory comments about STNY. We do not need people like that in STNY.

You have been warned!

Vael Down!!!!

The tank transition was going well and we decided to give it one more go. And he went down it was very nicely done everyone was controlling their agro and tank transition went perfect.

Great Job STNY!!!

Eyonix on Priest Changes :)

February 3rd, 2006 by h3rb

As has been stated many times in recent posts, a number of improvements are being made to several priest talents and core abilities for the next content patch. Several of these changes are still in the testing process, and in some cases, under discussion – especially those relating to talents. What this means to the players is, the following details pertaining to upcoming change is not comprehensive, and intended primarily to serve as a sneak preview, and in a perfect world, satisfy some of your curiosity.

Too bad this world isn’t perfect…

Greater Heal (and Heal starting from rank2) will receive a reduction to its casting time. Currently the spell is a 4 second cast. However, once patch 1.10 releases, the spell, from start to finish will cast in 3 seconds – (2.5 with talent improvement). This spell, along with the Druid’s Healing Touch and the Shaman’s Healing Wave will all receive an approximate 10% improvement to mana efficiency.

Holy Fire will no longer be a talent required ability. All priests, upon reaching the appropriate level will receive this spell as a core ability. In addition, this spell’s casting time has been reduced from 4 seconds to 3.5. The appropriate talent improvement would bring this spell to a 3 second cast. This spell will also be considered holy damage, meaning, effects which improve holy damage will increase the damage of this spell.

Inner Fire is another core ability we’re reworking. With the prevalence of wand-use amongst casters, we’re not very pleased with the increase of attack power this spell provides and are looking to change Inner Fire so that it is more in line with the original concept behind the ability, i.e. a defensive/soloing spell.

Power Word: Shield is still undergoing testing. Basically, we’re running the numbers of the final spell ranks and will likely make changes to its damage mitigation scaling.

Talents are where we’re making the most significant changes, however, until the changes have been finalized there is little I’m going to be able to reveal. What I will state is that we’re reorganizing and streamlining all three trees, with a particular emphasis on Holy and Discipline. Each tree will have anywhere from 1 to 4 brand new talents available. The focus of Holy will be in providing throughput improvement, such as offering benefits to healing and spell damage. Discipline will focus on staying-power, such as what you see from abilities that improve mana and mana regeneration. Shadow of course, will focus primarily on damage.

Priest class racial improvements are for the most part, complete yet undergoing testing. Until all of them are ready to be unveiled, I’m going to avoid providing specifics. I will try very hard to push out concrete details late next week, if possible.

A number of minor improvements and tweaks continue to be made as well, such as the increase we’re making to Prayer of Fortitude’s range and radius, the overall reduction to Smite’s mana cost, the addition of group buff versions for Divine Spirit and Shadow Protection, and much more. In addition, I can promise that I’ll push for the talents to go live on the talent calculator the moment that they’ve been finalized, which hopefully won’t be long now.

The Burning Crusade Preview: Karazhan

January 31st, 2006 by h3rb

Development on the first ever World of Warcraft expansion – The Burning Crusade – continues at a feverish pace, and the dev team has released its first information on one of the new dungeons for the expansion. In this new preview you see screen shots of Karazhan – the tower of the fabled guardian Medivh – as well as background lore providing the first shadowed hints into the terrible dangers and mysteries that await adventurers:

Between Duskwood and the Swamp of Sorrows lies the desolate region of Deadwind Pass, where jagged, brooding spires of granite loom over petrified, lifeless forests. As its name suggests, it is a land devoid of life.

But it was not always so…

Medivh, the Last Guardian, made his home in Deadwind, in the bright tower of Karazhan. Though he was the greatest wizard of his day (and humanity’s intended custodian) Medivh was secretly possessed by the dark spirit of Sargeras, the Destroyer of Worlds. Through Medivh, Sargeras opened the Dark Portal and allowed the orcs to wage war upon the mortal kingdoms of Azeroth.

STNY Guild Event

January 29th, 2006 by Softball

Goals:

STNY is a large guild that is built on a strong foundation of great leadership and players. Even though great leadership and players make a great guild; organization, effectiveness, and communication as a whole make an unstoppable A-team guild (diesel engine). Several of the guild’s values are communication and execution, and in order for us to continue to function as a strong raid, every individual has to be able to interact and understand each other.

It’s true that if you can’t get along with your guildmates, you won’t work as effectively as a whole. This fun activity will be both a competitive and social event that will accomplish two things: To better communication between individuals and to set a precedent for other upcoming guild events…ie…Gurubashi Arena Best of the Best Nights, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, War Song Gultch, 5v5 4v4 and 3v3 Ladder fights, etc.

I encourage all STNY members to join and have a blast with people that you haven’t grouped with before. Talk to them, ask them what their names are, create a friendly guild enviroment, and get to know what types of diverse people we have within the guild. If you think you have what it takes to devise quick strategies to speed up your progress in instances, tone up your PvE skills, and learn more about your guildmates, then take our Scholomance Race Challenge!.

Hope to see you there!

You are invited to compete in the Scholomance Race!

Who: All STNY members
What: 100+ gold prize pool (I will add some prizes at the end too!)
When: Tuesday, January 31st Time – 8:00 p.m.
Where: Scholomance
Why: To enhance communication and interaction between you and your guildmates

2. Groups will be randomly selected

– Ex: Skier, Serpa, Taliant, Founder, and Ambushed will not be in the same group

This Week in Raiding

January 29th, 2006 by Taliant

Okay on the whole this was not a good week of raiding for us. While we did clear MC and onyixia in under 6 hours over two nights that does not really matter. MC is easy. You can 10 man MC. The thing we are focused on is BWL.

Skier made a very good point over vent about how you can toss around strats all day but when it comes down to it what really matters is the execution, which was severly lacking. In an instance as hard as BWL every single person’s level of play is important. You can’t squeek by on the backs of 24 players in BWL. Saturday night to start our kiting was horrible and by the end our mage killing was horrible. Without those two key pieces going perfect together we will not be killing Razoregore. If you do not want to bring your best game to BWL, then do not come.

That being sayed, be prepared for things to go much smoother next weekend and stay frosty.
